Abstract/Overview

Microsoft Excel 2007 is the latest version of the powerful spreadsheet software that helps you organize information and make quick and accurate numerical calculations. Suitable for everyday tasks like budgeting and forecasting, Excel is equally useful in scientific, engineering and financial work.
This module is the first part of a three-day series that covers all the capabilities of Excel 2007 in detail, from the most basic worksheet operations, to advanced applications like what-if analysis and macro writing.
In this first module, you discover the key differences between Excel 2007 and its predecessor, Excel 2003. You learn everything you need to create, edit and format simple workbooks and worksheets, using Excel’s most common functions and features.

Audience - Who Should Attend?

This module is for those who are new to Excel or to the concept of using spreadsheets to organize, manipulate and format information. It is also very useful for those moving to Excel 2007 from earlier versions. If you need to create or edit spreadsheets using Excel’s powerful set of tools, this course is for you.

Prerequisite

You should be able to use a desktop computer with a mouse and keyboard. Beyond that, no particular skills are required.

Objective

When you complete this course, you will be able to:
·         Describe what all the controls on the Excel program screen are for, including the new Ribbon, Office Button and Quick Access Toolbar
·         Start Excel, create a new workbook, open an existing workbook, print your work and save a workbook
·         Use menu commands and toolbars to enter data into a workbook, enter a formula into a workbook cell, and apply labels to ranges of cells
·         Streamline worksheet tasks using AutoSum and AutoFill
·         Edit cell contents using cut, copy, paste and drag and drop
·         Insert and delete rows, find and replace contents, and use undo/redo
·         Format worksheets using number formats, borders, shading and patterns, the Format Painter, and apply rules-based conditional fomatting
